Those Little Moments.

As American poet James Percivial once said “there are moments in life that we never forget, which brighten our day as time steals way.”   Personally, I do not think of myself to be defined by the large so called life changing moments such as graduations and conformations.  To me life is a journey made of little moments that make the difference.  It is the little moments where we meet our lifelong friends, those small moments that teach us more lessons then any one day could ever be.  However crazy this might sound.  To show an example of how much the little moments matter I will explain the way my family plays Risk.
To begin I have two wonderful cousins whom I am very close to.  We are all are around the same age which makes game time even more fun.  Every year they come to good old St. Joseph for either Christmas or Easter, never both because then they go to the east coast. When they are in St. Joe most of our time is spent in grandmothers playing games.  Most of our games are created by our own imagination. However one day we tried to play a real game and it didn’t turn out quite as planned.
My cousins and I are not normal.  We have known each other for far too long to the point where we can almost predict what the others are thinking.  Yet no matter that Kyle and I have known each other for about the longest time I could never understand why he would when playing Risk place 50 armies on Japan.  Not five not ten but 50.  For those who do not know the objectives of Risk, putting 50 armies on an island is not one of them.
Due to the fact that we know each other so well, we could tell the game was going to last longer than we had the patience for.  In order to solve the problem we divided the world democratically.  Kyle of course won Japan along with Australia and most of Asia.  Kristen was voted to have North and South America along with part of Asia.  Finally, I being the youngest got the leftovers, Europe, Canada, and the Ukraine.  Ukraine is weak?”  This is one of the many inside jokes that we have created out of this game.
Inside jokes and an enjoyable time are the best things that I could ever ask about any experience or moment.  Moments are the little things that make life special. They allow for life to be enjoyable, different, and unique.  If life was just day after boring day it would never amount to anything.  We need the little moments to learn how about life and the lessons that others have to offer.  Such as the lesson that Kyle was trying to teach that “you can never be too careful.” No matter what we do those little moments will follow us till the ends of the earth. Just think about it.....
